Junk mail has become a problem worldwide.  A recent survey showed that nearly 70% of people in the United Kingdom are annoyed with the amount of junk mail which drops through their door on a daily basis.  The main problem is that once one company has your address, this information is readily available to other companies, hence the amount of different companies trying make contact.  There are companies which the consumer can subscribe to, who stop this unwanted mail.  There is an environmental issue which is attached to junk mail, the shear amount of unwanted mail that is going to land fill in phenomenal, although there is paper recycling facilities available from most councils now it does not rid us of the problem.

Unfortunately some of the junk mail through the door are scams, many people have fallen for these scams.  The scammers usually set about trying to extort money from the homeowner, and in some cases have managed to get a significant amount of money out of the homeowners.  There are such scams that request bank details.  It is important for the homeowner to remember that if they have not requested the product, be careful about giving information to a third party.

It is not just the postal service which is affected by unwanted mail, junk emails and spam emails are very common on the internet.  As technology has moved on many people choose to communicate via email, it is instant and much faster than snail mail.  Again like the regular post there are scammers who will try to get information out of you via the internet by way of spam mail and spam emails.

There are facilities and computer tools which are available on the internet which sift out any unwanted emails, spam and viruses.  For companies it is essential to have the facility of ridding unwanted mail from the inbox, it can take up much of the working day trying to sort the genuine emails from the spam emails, without the sorting facility on the computer business could delete a genuine email from customers.

On computers firewalls can be set up to prevent spam mail getting through, some of the spam mail if not caught in time can have devastating effects on the computer, as it is some peoples mission to put viruses onto a system to cause fault.  Whatever the mail whether it junk or spam, email or regular post there is always a way of stopping it before it reaches the home or business in question.
